Primary responsibilities include: 1. With and through the business Quality Assurance Managers, lead Total Quality transformation across the Asia businesses by driving culture change to make quality top priority. 2. Develop and implement a robust Total Quality system and tools appropriate to all the businesses in the region. Provide core tools, methods and approaches that result in a common commitment to quality, while addressing the unique needs of each business unit. 3. Through the Quality Assurance Managers in each business, ensure compliance with customer and internal product quality and qualification standards. 4. Partner with business leadership to drive product quality through the establishment and analysis of critical metrics and implementation of proactive controls and improvement initiatives. 5. Lead the development and dissemination of training and the adoption of an effective quality management framework and tools. 6. Provide effective guidance and oversight of quality processes, ensures key product quality decisions are made and issues addressed. 7. Monitor and introduces leading edge quality methods and techniques as appropriate to the businesses. 8. Manage internal and external audits across business sites to ensure compliance. 9. Ensure constant vigilance (in process and manufacturing-related defects, field returns etc.) and that appropriate changes to manufacturing process are made to assure the highest possible quality. 10. Work closely with operations, research & development, process engineering and site personnel to develop strategies to assure the highest possible product quality, a seamless supply to customers and the lowest manufacturing cost. 11. Works across the business and with customers to ensure understanding of critical performance/quality attributes from the customers’ perspective and that the formula, raw material, manufacturing and application steps critical to performance are understood and addressed. Establishes control processes to ensure this process in control is consistently achieved and maintained. 12. Establishes systems to monitor customer complaints to ensure that issues are permanently addressed in an effective and prioritized manner through the identification of root causes and establishment of controls. 13. Develop and maintain a high performing organization capable of successfully implementing the strategies developed. This includes organization design, hiring, developing, replacing and deploying staff as required. 14. Assure that manufacturing quality and performance data are comprehensively measured, trended, reported and acted on in a timely manner to assure compliance and support continuous supplier improvement. 15. Follow through to ensure appropriate response to audit observations with appropriate corrective actions, aimed at eliminating the source of the observed compliance issue, within established completion dates. REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION: 1. A Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in Chemical Engineering or related discipline. 2. Fluent verbal and written communication skills in English and Chinese is required. EXPERIENCE: 1. Minimum of ten years Quality Assurance experience, with considerable experience leading Quality Assurance initiatives in a progressive manufacturing organization. 2. Experience in a related industry such as CHEMICAL, PAINT, or BATCH Processing environments strongly preferred. 3. Experience in a multi-national corporation is required. 4. Demonstrated strong leader with the ability to drive change within an organization; desire to lead a team to build Quality Assurance as an integral part of rapidly growing businesses. 5. Passion for the field of Quality Assurance and strong knowledge of quality systems (ISO and other leading Quality Systems) with experience implementing and transforming organizations. 6. Previous people management experience. 7. Demonstrated ability to lead effectively and interface successfully with customers. 8. Ability to work effectively and leverage resources in a lean organization. 9. Willingness to travel regularly as required – estimated 30% 10. Experience in a process environment that includes high volume mixing; continuous flow operations, blending of liquids or chemicals. 11. Experience building a Quality management system from the ground up. 12. Professional certification in Quality Assurance (ASQ CQE or CQM). 13. Strong influencing skills and ability to deal with important business issues. 14. Lean Six Sigma training and/or certification desired (Blackbelt preferred). 15. Strong PC and technology skills (spreadsheets, word processing, analytics) and a track record of effective project management. PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES 1.
